For New Writers
If you want to write for children, you don't just need to be able to
create plots and write well. You also need to understand how the publishing
business works.
To help you, we've created a FAQ
for new writers page on our main Word Pool site. You'll also find
other useful articles for writers on that site and you are welcome to
join our children's
writers discussion list.
Books can be a great source of information and there are several excellent
ones on writing for children. You'll find some reviews to help you choose
on our bookshelf.
On the same page, you'll also find details of the two UK market guides
- The Writer's Handbook and The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook.
Please do not send us your manuscript. We are not publishers
and cannot help you find one. We also don't have time to give you personal
feedback on your work. If you need this, ask at your local library for
details of any creative writing classes or writers' groups in your area.
They offer feedback and the company of people who share your desire to
write.
Good luck and happy writing
