Hello, we're Steve and Diana Kimpton - the people behind this site.

We created The Word Pool to increase the profile of UK children's books on the Internet. Our original site (www.wordpool.co.uk) is now a well established source of information for anyone interested in choosing or writing children's books. The UK Children's Books directory and our own web design service are both natural spin-offs from it and reflect the growing interest in author and illustrator websites.

Diana is a children's author with more than 25 books published so far and several more in the pipeline. It's that background which triggered our enthusiasm for the children's book world which we've found to be full of delightful real life people as well as imaginary dragons, schoolboy wizards and talking teddy bears.

Steve is the technical half of the partnership. His many years experience in the computer industry have given him a confidence and expertise which is invaluable in tackling web based projects. He's also particularly good at explaining technical stuff in words even the most computer illiterate can understand.

Together we make a good team whose different skills combine well. We also enjoy what we are doing and love doing it together. We hope you get as much pleasure out of visiting our sites as we do from building them.
